Remember Monster Hunter? 90s and early 00s kids probably know what we are talking about. The hack-and-slash strategy game that pitted you against huntable deadly monsters in an open world.
Since its original launch in 2004, there have been six new main games and five spin-off series devoted to it. It has amassed a huge following, selling 92 million copies worldwide, making it Capcom's second most popular title. It's fair to say Monster Hunter is a phenomenon, and a new one just dropped.
Meet Monster Hunter Now, the latest instalment in the franchise. Developed by Niantic Labs, (the same team that gave us Pokémon GO). Monster Hunter Now is a mobile game that puts you on a global quest to hunt some of the series' most deadly monsters.
Much like the company's flagship game, Pokémon GO, Monster Hunter Now has you explore the real world using your phone's camera. From there, you can discover and hunt monsters as they pop up on your own, or you can team up with other hunters near you to take down some of the more formidable enemies.
Only one question remains: Will we see people walking around attached to power banks like we did back in 2016?
