As of 2020, more than 366 million adults worldwide are living with ADHD. Shimmer is a coaching platform designed to help those millions learn skills, build habits, and implement systems that are personalized to their needs.
Today, Shimmer is launching a web app giving users access to coaching support, online education, strategic behavioral goal-setting tools, and more.
More screen time? "Contrary to the prevailing notion of pushing mobile usage, our core purpose has always centered around addressing the unique needs of people with ADHD, and prioritizing coaching outcomes," says Shimmer's co-founder, Christal Wang. What followed from centering their users this way? An impressively deep understanding of their unique challenges, preferences, and pain points.
"For those of us with ADHD, when things are not in our view or realm of attention, it's very difficult to retrieve this information," explains Christal. The new mobile-web system introduces another entry point for users to keep coaching outcomes, learning materials, and personal goals top of mind.
Minimizing distractions: Similarly, by reverse-engineering solutions from specific user insights, the Shimmer team realized a web app would also be helpful to people battling phone addiction. "The web-based platform offers a focused environment for engagement, minimizing the potential distractions often associated with mobile apps."
