Maintaining authenticity online is becoming a more mainstream challenge, and it's been affecting communities like ours for a long while.
We've heard your concerns about sketchy upvotes, spammers, and, more recently, AI-generated comments.
To ensure Product Hunt remains a level playing field for all makers, here's a high-level summary of a few new measures taken to maintain the integrity of our platform:
- Homepage ranking adjustments: We're refining our homepage algorithm to quarantine and disqualify inauthentic or bot-like voting behavior, using better moderation tools and programmatic detection.
- Homepage randomization: To give all products a more distributed chance at exposure on launch day, we're testing a randomized homepage sort for the first 2 hours (PT).
- Trust and verification: We've added new features to improve user trust, such as LinkedIn login for profile verification, a focus on email verification, and account age considerations.
- Community empowerment: To combat the rise of AI-generated comments, we've added an AI-specific flag to the report link. Help us maintain authenticity by flagging any bot-generated comments you find on the site.
