Want to prove your authentic self on Meta? Time to pay up.
Remember when we used to do things because we enjoyed how they made us feel and not for bragging rights? Yeah, us neither.
David Pfluegl, the maker behind Naked Run Club, wants to change that. While it may not involve running in one's birthday suit, as you might've thought, it does get close.
Naked Run Club is an app for your wearable device that tracks your running stats but hides them away until you're done. To keep you from distracting yourself and obsessing over the numbers, a rocking banana and the words JUST RUN are visible during active runs.
Why he built it: "At some point last year, I realised that I got more and more obsessed with my running live data. Around the same time, running became a lot less fun and felt more like a chore. This was bad. The streets and trails that were my playground became a dull, uninspiring place. I had to do something to bring back the fun," he shares in the comments. His first solution was to run without a watch. Soon enough, he realized he did need that post-run sense of achievement that looking at the data provides, just not while he's running.
The app is currently available for Apple Watches and stores your tracking data in Apple Health. You can pause and resume your run by pressing the Digital Crown and Side Button simultaneously, track your running time, distance, heart rate, and energy burned, and control your tunes.
If building new, healthy habits was on your list for 2023 resolutions, Naked Run Club might help. And remember, baby steps. Who says we can't track walks too?
